Nausicaa Karasmanoglou is an interdisciplinary artist working across multimedia and installation, using immersive and sensing technologies, poetics and the body. They currently hold a practice based in Amsterdam (NL) and Athens (GR).
Their enduring fascinations involve boundless bodies, interconnected systems and that which emerges in their entanglement. Meditating on the metaphysics of the corporeal, their work seeks to transgress the (violent) forces imposed on it. The Body is extended beyond the flesh-bound to include more-than-human and material systems, treated as a collective conduit of sensing and archiving.
Their process makes visible the inherent and emergent friction in the mediums it engages with, further underlining the relationship between synthetic and organic, object and subject.
